Sonu, Monu, and the Tempting Canteen Food

Sonu, Monu, and the Tempting Canteen Food

One day, after coming home from school, Sonu and Monu said to their mother, “Mummy, don’t give us tiffin tomorrow. We want to eat in the school canteen!”

Mother shook her head and said, “Outside food is not healthy. It can cause stomach problems like loose motions. It’s not good for your health.”

But Sonu and Monu pouted. “We don’t care! We want to eat canteen food. Nothing will happen to us!”

Despite their protests, their mother packed their tiffin for the next day. Sonu and Monu were upset but still took the tiffin and went to school.

Temptation at School

During the lunch break, Sonu and Monu opened their tiffin. But as they looked around, they saw their classmates enjoying food from the canteen—hot samosas, crispy fries, and colorful sweets.

Suddenly, their homemade food didn’t seem so exciting.

Both of them thought for a while, then closed their tiffin without eating and brought it back home.

When Grandma opened their lunch boxes, she saw that the food was untouched. She didn’t scold them. Instead, she smiled quietly and thought of a way to teach them a lesson.

Grandma’s Plan

The next morning, Sonu and Monu got ready for school, packed their bags, and reached for their tiffin boxes. But there were none on the table!

Sonu asked, “Mummy, where is our tiffin?”

Mummy stayed silent.

Just then, Grandma came forward and said, “Sonu, Monu, take this money. You both can eat from the canteen today. Enjoy!”

Sonu and Monu were thrilled! “Yay! Thank you, Grandma!” they cheered and ran off to school.

For two days, they ate only canteen food. Samosas, noodles, and fries—everything tasted delicious!

The Consequences

On Sunday morning, Monu suddenly jumped out of bed and ran to the toilet. Again and again, he had to go—he had loose motions!

Grandma gave him medicine, and after some time, he started feeling better. But then, Sonu also started feeling sick with the same problem.

The entire Sunday was spent in sickness instead of fun!

A Change of Heart

On Monday morning, Sonu and Monu got ready for school. But this time, they looked sad. They didn’t want to eat from the canteen anymore—but how could they tell their mother?

Grandma smiled knowingly and said, “What happened, my dear kids? You look upset. Here, take this money and eat from the canteen today.”

Sonu and Monu shook their heads. “No, Grandma. We’re sorry! We were wrong. Outside food is not good. We realize our mistake. We will never eat from the canteen again.”

Grandma smiled and handed them their tiffin boxes. “Since you’ve learned your lesson, here’s your home-cooked food.”

Happily, Sonu and Monu took their tiffins and went to school, promising never to ask for unhealthy food again.

Moral of the Story:

✅ Never eat unhealthy food from outside.

✅ Always listen to your parents because they know what’s best for you.
